Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems and equipment used in waste
• to
• energy conversion processes and waste collection operations. The role ensures that all plant and fleet equipment operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with environmental and technical standards to support sustainable waste management and energy generation.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Plant Operations and Maintenance
Oversee the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems in the waste
• to
• energy (Wt. E) facility, including turbines, boilers, pumps, conveyors, and shredders.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and enhance equipment lifespan.
Troubleshoot mechanical faults, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Develop and update maintenance schedules and documentation in line with ISO and environmental standards.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 5 years’ Experience in industrial plant operations, preferably in waste
• to
• energy, power generation, or waste management sectors.
Professional certification or registration with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) is an added advantage.
Proven Experience in boilers, turbines, conveyors, compressors, or hydraulic systems.
Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and project management principles.
Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainable energy technologies is desirable.
